Hennepin County Chief Medical Examiner said on Friday that he still believes George Floyd died from homicide.

According to the Weekend Today Show:

Hennepin County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker told jurors on Friday that he still classifies the death of Georgie Floyd as a homicide. He testified during the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin that Chauvin’s actions and lack of oxygen, not drugs or a preexisting condition, caused Floyd’s death.

This is consistent with what the Medical Examiner said last summer but it also conflicts with the evidence that Floyd was high as a kite at the time of his death:

However, another forensic pathologist said at the hearing on Friday that absent the struggle with police, Floyd’s death would have been ruled an overdose:

Forensic pathologist Dr. Lindsey Thomas testified Friday at the trial of former Minneapolis, Minnesota, police officer Derek Chauvin that absent a struggle with police, the death of a person with the drugs George Floyd had in his system would have been ruled an overdose.
