Shapley claimed that this meeting was a turning point and described it as the “red line meeting.” He alleged that Weiss indicated he wouldn’t be the final decision-maker regarding prosecuting Hunter Biden for tax and gun charges, which occurred in Weiss’s district. Shapley also testified before House Republicans, alleging an effort to steer the investigation away from districts where U.S. attorneys who supported President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were hesitant to bring charges.
