Oklahoma residents were rocked by a series of earthquakes early Thursday morning, with some claiming they heard rattling and ‘gunshot’-like sounds.

The earthquake was reported at 3.57 am and was located 5 km east of Carney, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

It had a depth of 10.8km, officials confirmed.

USGS Geophysicist Randy Baldwin said: ‘I think this is the fourth or fifth one in this sequence.’

He added that residents up to 150 miles away from the epicenter reported being able to feel the earthquake.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
