Seems like as each day goes by, new reports reveal that the coronavirus is much more serious than we thought.

Syndicated conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has a theory about this, declaring on this week that the coronavirus is being hyped by “the drive-by media” to bring down President Donald Trump.

Limbaugh said that he’s “worried” Democrats were using the coronavirus to stop President Donald Trump‘s campaign rallies.

A caller into the show said, “Well, I can tell you from the rally I went to in Minnesota that was the case. It was actually thirty percent at the one I was at.”

Limbaugh asked, “Were Democrats?”

The caller said, “Yes.”

Limbaugh added, “Democrats out the wazoo are showing up at Trump rallies. This is why they want these rallies stopped. This is why — it’s not because of public safety, not because of public health. These people — because as you point out, they’re not making an effort to shut down every other opportunity for people to congregate.”

“Right, so it makes no sense,” the caller added. “I just think the majority of people, I mean, granted their base won’t, but the majority of people can see through that.”

Limbaugh responded, “No, but it makes perfect sense from their standpoint. If you can’t beat Trump and if you want to stop the appearance of excitement about the Trump campaign, then stop the rallies. And if you’re really worried that so many people attending rallies are actually Democrats, then you’ve really gotta shut them down.”

Limbaugh introduced a clip of Rahm Emanuel saying the coronavirus could be “devastating” for Trump’s reelection by saying, “Emanuel is the latest Democrat to discuss the coronavirus as an opportunity for the Democrats.”

Limbaugh sounded the alarm about this last month, too.

Limbaugh said, “It looks like the coronavirus is being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump. I want to tell you the truth about the coronavirus.”

He continued, “The coronavirus is the common cold, folks. The drive-by media hype of this thing as a pandemic, as the Andromeda strain, as, ‘Oh my God, if you get it, you’re dead,’ do you know what the — I think the survival rate is Ninety-eight percent. Ninety-eight percent of people who get the coronavirus survive. It’s a respiratory system virus. It probably is a ChiCom laboratory experiment that is in the process of being weaponized. All superpower nations weaponize bioweapons. They experiment with them. The Russians, for example, have weaponized fentanyl. Now fentanyl is also not what it is represented to be.”

He added, “I’m not trying to get you to let your guard down. Nobody wants to get any of this stuff. I mean, you never —I hate getting the common cold. You don’t want to get the flu. It’s miserable. But we’re not talking about something here that’s going to wipe out your town or your city if it finds its way there. This is a classic illustration of how media coverage — even if this media coverage isn’t stacked — even if this just the way media normally does things. This is a hyped, panic-filled version. Exactly how the media deals with these things to create audience, readership, interest, clicks what have you.”

Last month, Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton also warned about the virus, but not necessarily for the same reasons as Limbaugh.

Cotton declared the China’s communist government has repeatedly lied about the coronavirus, including the magnitude of the problem and where the virus originated.
