A former Oklahoma substitute teacher is accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student. The woman involved in the purported teacher sex scandal is reportedly the wife of the town’s police chief and the daughter of the mayor.
Former Wellston High School substitute teacher Emma Delaney Hancock was arrested on Thursday. The 26-year-old was charged with two counts of soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology and two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16. Hancock was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
KFOR-TV reported that Hancock is the wife of Wellston Police Chief Alfred Hancock and her father is Wellston Mayor Paul Whitnah. The case is reportedly being handled by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to avoid a conflict of interest.

According to the affidavit, the substitute teacher began communicating with the student in October 2022. Hancock allegedly received the student’s phone number through a school assignment.
