Fox Corporation’s stock lost about $962 million in market value on Monday after news of Tucker Carlson’s departure from the network.

Fox Corp.’s Class A shares were down 5.4% Monday and pared losses to close 2.9% lower. 

The news of Carlson departing the network spread quickly through social media and news outlets.

Tucker Carlson Tonight averaged the second-largest total audience on cable news and the second-largest Adults 25-54 audience on Friday, April 21st, with 2.65 million total viewers, according to Adweek.

“We’ll be back on Monday; in the meantime, have the best weekend,” Carlson said, concluding his show Friday.

Friday was his final show.

“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” said Fox News in a statement on Monday.

“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21stFox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named,” said Fox News in a statement.
