On March 25, 2020, Parkland mass survivor-turned gun control activist David Hogg had one shining moment.
Instead of going on his typical anti-gun screeds, he called out the Chinese Communist Party and its popular app, TikTok.
Hogg Tweeted, “Tik Tok is a national security threat that should only be used to call out the Chinese government (who controls it) for their atrocities and human rights abuses. Seriously y’all memes and jokes are fun but downloading the spyware of an authoritarian regime is not.”
TikTok has become popular among American youth for its videos where they make memes, jokes, and dance scenes.
Surprisingly, Hogg is aware of the company’s close connection to the China’s authoritarian government, which BLP also covered previously.
He then made a follow-up Tweet where he said, “I’m not kidding, we need to cancel TikTok.”
