A dispute quickly spiraled out of control near a Shake Shake eatery in the complex, the Houston Chronicle reports.
An armed suspect discharged a firearm, striking a male victim in the leg, police say.
Footage purportedly shot at the scene was posted on social media.
The video quickly racked up millions of views on Twitter alone.
Responding officers found a 28-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene.
He was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The suspect, who was described by police as an “unknown black male,” fled and is still on the loose, according to the latest available updates.
“The crime scene didn’t stop people from going in and out of the Galleria. This is the second shooting at the Galleria in less than a month, when back in March, a man was shot in the parking lot,” Fox 26 reports.
Few details are known about the confrontation or possible motives at this time.
Houston Police are asking anyone with relevant information to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
