During a recent commercial flight with Spirit Airlines, a flight attendant freaked out at a passenger who was wearing a patriotic face covering.

The flight attendant claimed that the face covering was not “legal.”

“I’m wearing a mask,” the man in the video said.

“No. What do you have underneath this?” the flight attendant asked. “This is not legal to wear.”

The man shot back, saying, “I’m wearing a mask—Legal by who? Legal by who? What’s wrong with my mask?”

“It is not legal according to the CDC,” the flight attendant claimed while providing no evidence.

“Really?” the man asked.

“Really. That’s why I handed you a mask,” the flight attendant rudely responded.

The man wearing the patriotic mask shot back, “Show me those rules.”

“I don’t have to show you the rules,” the flight attendant said.

“Well, I don’t have to wear the mask that you gave me,” the man fired back. “I’m wearing the mask that I have. I’ve been on 20 flights, okay? I’ve literally been on 20 flights with this same exact mask. Alright? I’m done talking.”

The incident was shared on Twitter by “Michael,” the man being harassed in the video.

Ironically, the attendant pulled his mask down to address the man wearing the patriotic face cover.

Spirit Airlines got absolutely roasted in the comment section of the tweet and they even responded to some of the comments.

@SpiritAirlines He is not the only one who’s been harassed about his mask…” said one Twitter user. “I unfortunately had to fly y’all on Thursday the 10th of September from LAX to IAH and was harassed by your Ticket counter and flight attendants as well over this exact same issue!! Never fly Spirit!”

Spirit Airlines replied, stating, “Safety is Spirit Airlines’ first priority. The CDC cautions that gaiters may not be effective, and we require Guests to double up gaiters so they’re dual-layered. We welcome Guests who wants to show their pride with an American flag on a face covering that meets with our policy.”
