It isn’t unusual for political candidates to embrace the pop culture to increase their broad appeal. Particularly where music is involved, candidates will resurrect popular songs and apply them to their campaign and message. Bill Clinton used the popular Fleetwood Mac song “Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow” to great success in the 1990s. Mediocre song for a mediocre president. I digress. Recently members of another 80’s relic got butthurt over a member singing one of their songs at a Donald Trump event and filed a cease-and-desist order. Check this out.
Journey guitarist Neal Schon has filed a cease-and-desist order against keyboardist Jonathan Cain for performing “Don’t Stop Believin” during a Trump event at Mar-a-Lago last month.
Schon accuses Cain of damaging the Journey brand by associating it with Donald Trump. The order alleges the performance “polarizes the band’s fans and outreach.”

Jonathan Cain used to be a neighbor of mine. Good for him playing for Trump! Even band members are turning on each other. Not cool.
