The Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, has initiated an investigation into allegations that doctors are performing illegal sex-change surgeries on children at the Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin.
Paxton’s office is looking into claims that the clinic performs “gender transitioning” surgeries on minors, which is considered a crime in Texas.
In 2021, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services classified gender surgeries on minors as “child abuse,” and in the previous year, Paxton declared that sex-change surgeries and puberty blockers for children constitute child abuse under Texas law.
In a statement, Paxton announced the launch of the investigation into the clinic.
