In a tragic incident at Divino Nino Day Care Center in the Bronx, a one-year-old baby boy lost his life, while three other children were hospitalized due to suspected fentanyl exposure. The children, who had been napping, were found unresponsive in the basement of the daycare center around 2:40 p.m. They were supposed to wake up at 2:30 p.m., having eaten about 90 minutes earlier.
Emergency responders administered Narcan to three of the children, and one of them responded positively to the life-saving drug. All four children were rushed to nearby hospitals, where the one-year-old boy was declared dead. Thankfully, the three others are in stable condition, with the 8-month-old girl treated for dehydration.
Police sources are investigating whether the children ingested fentanyl or another type of drug. A nearby resident reported hearing a daycare worker repeatedly screaming, “The kids are dead!” as she found the unresponsive children by the entrance to the center.
