Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) blamed the Trump administration for the humiliating results of the troop withdrawal in Afghanistan.

She appeared on ABC’s “This Week” to agitate on behalf of the endless war agenda championed by her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, who was the architect of the foreign policy that has resulted in the Taliban’s victory over Afghanistan.

If you look at what it would have taken in terms of maintaining the status quo — 2,500 forces on the ground conducting counterterrorism — this disaster, this catastrophe we’re watching unfold across Afghanistan, did not have to happen,” Cheney said.

She blamed Trump for seeing the writing on the wall and negotiating with the Taliban while he was president.

“President Biden bears responsibility for making this decision, but there’s no question President Trump, his administration, Secretary Pompeo, they also bear very significant responsibility for this. They walked down this path of legitimizing the Taliban,” Cheney.

However, as many Twitter critics point out, the failure ultimately rests on the Bush administration, whose foreign policy was masterminded by Dick Cheney, for starting this war that never saw success throughout many different administrations.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) argued for endless war in a Congressional speech on Thursday calling for a reauthorization for the Authorization for Use of Military Force, which was used by former president George W. Bush as a pretense to invade Iraq.

“AUMF repeal without comprehensive replacement is dangerous, misguided, and ignores the security challenges facing our nation. This legislation removes a critical tool used by previous administrations – Republican and Democrat – to defeat terrorist threats originating in Iraq,” she said.
