President Donald Trump has endorsed an array of candidates across the nation who are running for Congress in an effort to take back control of the House and Senate. The vast majority of Trump-endorsed candidates won their primaries, and now face their Democrat opponents in a few weeks.
Beating an incumbent is considered difficult unless the incumbent has failed at their job or is seen in a different light than when first elected. But there are challengers edging out the incumbents and polls are showing their climb.
Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is a 21-year incumbent and was pro-impeachment. She has been challenged by Trump-endorsed Kelly Tshibaka.
Alaska has a top-four primary threshold as part of the state’s ranked-choice voting system, which was adopted through a ballot measure in 2020. through this system, both Murkowski and Tshibaka will advance to the midterm election.
