Lesley Nicol, star of the hit TV series Downton Abbey, has lost her husband to Covid at the age of 68 right after he announced he received a spring Covid booster shot.

Nicol, 68, is well-known for her portrayal of Beryl Patmore in Downton Abbey. She was married to her husband, David Heald, for 15 years.

Heald – who was also known as Da’aboth Te’He’Ling – has previously suffered from heart problems. He had heart bypass surgery and a stroke in 2009, which he says led him to discover his “spiritual side”.

On April 26, Heald posted on Facebook that he had tested positive for Covid after receiving a spring Covid booster shot, which is reserved for those at or above age 75. However, those with certain health conditions or a weakened immune system may also be eligible for the jab, as well as those who live in a care home for older people.

Heald reported that his “fit to fly test” came back positive, and that he caught the illness after receiving the spring booster shot.

Just a week after announcing his Covid diagnosis, Heald passed away, leaving Nicol heartbroken in the wake of his sudden death.

Nicol’s agent made a statement regarding Heald’s death, saying that he was “an amazing, unique and inspirational man who was always at Lesley’s side – ‘her warrior’. We are all processing this unexpected turn of events and Lesley would like to thank everyone for their loving and kind messages of support.”
