It’s no secret that Fox New anchor Sean Hannity and the president of the United States are friends, so it’s not out of line that a friend would come to another friend’s defense, especially when they’re being lied about.

Hannity made it clear that he believes that Michael Cohen, who is a convicted perjurer, was lying about President Donald Trump in his testimony to Congress the same as he has lied multiple times before.

An example of Cohen’s comments are below:

“He is a racist. He is a con man. And he is a cheat.” “I am not protecting Mr. Trump anymore.”

Since all evidence points to Cohen being the con man/cheat, it’s not surprising that Hannity would come to Trump’s defense.

Still, Cohen’s testimony was under oath, and difficult to disprove.

Cohen testified behind closed doors to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, and publicly to the House Oversight and Reform Committee this week. He is set to testify to the House Intelligence Committee again next week.

Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations related to hush-money payments ahead of the 2016 election to two women who claimed they had extramarital affairs with Trump, as well as lying to Congress.

So where does Sean Hannity come into the story?  And why would he get a subpoena? It all started with an interview between Hannity and the POTUS on his Fox News show on Thursday.

In an interview with Trump in Vietnam, Hannity said that Cohen had told him he — not Trump — had made the decision on the payments without telling the then-candidate.

“He told me that personally,” Hannity said.

This claim was enough to draw attention of Democrats who are always looking for ways to stir up trouble for the president, and in this case, for his conservative Fox News friend.

A top House Democrat suggested this week that Fox News host Sean Hannity should be subpoenaed to testify before Congress to determine what he knows about hush-money payments Michael Cohen allegedly made on President Donald Trump’s behalf.

During testimony before the House Oversight Committee Wednesday, Cohen told Congress that he made several hush-money payments at Trump’s request.

So the question is, can Sean Hannity be forced to testify? An analyst from CNN believes so.

According to CNN:

CNN legal analyst Jennifer Rodgers says lawmakers and prosecutors have good reason to speak with the Fox host. “What Sean Hannity did, and I think he really stepped in it here, is to say ‘I personally have information that contradicts what Michael Cohen said under oath,’” Rodgers says.

But it’s not just Jennifer Rodgers that believes he can be called in. The comments also caught the attention of a member of the House Judiciary Committee.

The comment prompted Cicilline — a member of the influential House Judiciary Committee — to tweet Thursday: “Sean Hannity is now volunteering himself as a witness. I look forward to his testimony.”
Whether Democrats ultimately call Hannity into testify is far from clear. But asked to clarify his intentions Friday, the Cicilline spokesman said that Cicilline does indeed believe that Hannity should testify over his knowledge about the hush-money scheme, which House Democrats plan to continue investigating as part of their probe into potential criminal activity involving the President.
