In Brief

  • The Facts:Alabama  Gov. Kay Ivey signed a bill into law on Monday that prohibits any government entity from issuing vaccine passports while blocking businesses from requiring any such documentation.
  • Reflect On:Should vaccines really be mandatory for basic rights like travel? Why have so many scientists and doctors been censored during this pandemic? Why are authorities threatening the loss of rights and freedoms for those who refuse to be vaccinated?

What Happened: In April, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order banning the use of Covid-19 passports in the state. Now, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed a bill into law on Monday doing the same thing. Ivey said that she supports the vaccine and encourages all citizens to receive one, as she did, but freedom of choice will remain as well as medical, religions and philosophical exemptions for children who may be required to vaccinate to attend public schools.

The bill also blocks the ability of businesses from putting any such measures, like proof of vaccination documentation into place.
