Children as young as two will be required to wear face masks while attending day care, an order issued by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul states.

On Tuesday, Hochul issued universal mask mandates affecting children at state-regulated child care facilities using the Covid-19 Delta outbreak as justification.

The requirement applies to New York State Office of Children and Family Services-licensed and -registered child care centers, home-based group family and family child care programs, after-school child care programs and enrolled legally exempt group programs during operational hours.

The governor claims the requirement is to “provide consistency between child care program children and school children, many of whom often share the same buildings.”

“Because the Delta variant is so highly transmissible, there have been large increases in cases across all age groups,” a press release states. “Because children under 12 years of age are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine, there have been large increases in cases among children, which translates to higher numbers of severe cases.”

While children are being forced to wear mask, numerous New York politicians attending the illustrious Met Gala in Manhattan on Monday showed up mask-less, a hypocrisy highlighted on social media.
